Ss. Peter & Lambert Parish will welcome the Sisters of the Imitation of Christ on September 2nd & 3rd as we participate in the MISSIONARY COOPERATION PLAN.
Funds to promote the social, economic, cultural and spiritual life of mentally challenged women with the goal to enlarge the circle of qualitative living for young women and children in BETHANIA ASEER ILLAM Kumarapuram, Kanya Kumari District. We have started the program in the year 2013 with three inmates. The number of mentally ill women inmates increased from 3 to 40 members. Due to the lack of funds, we have temporarily closed the admission. To strengthen this noble work we registered our Trust namely Bethania Aseer Illam on 07/22/2016. The fund will be used for the establishment of the Bethania Aseer Illam and there by improve the quality of life of the residents.
The institute is located in the rural area of Tamilnadu. There are many places that people are not receiving resources for their basic needs. Lack of electricity and transportation are major problems in that region. All our inmates are from very poor families and are unable to get any economic assistance from the family members. These mentally challenged suffer from Bipolar disorders, Schizophrenia, Delusion, anxiety, fear, mood swings, and depression. Their family members find it very difficult to look after them at home. Another major problem is that they are not taking medicines regularly at their home. With our limitations, we are providing free meals to the residents, give out clothes, and provide necessary vaccinations to the residents in a timely manner. Sometimes we find it hard to meet their necessities such as food, medicine and other basic needs.
The second collection the weekend of September 2nd & 3rd will benefit the mission work of the Sisters of the Imitation of Christ.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
